He is the author of several books including ‘Conferences and Conventions: A Global Industry’ (third edition published in 2013) and ‘Marketing Destinations and Venues for Conferences, Conventions and Business Events’, co-authored with Rob Davidson of the University of Greenwich (published in 2006). Both books have been translated into Chinese and the former has also been translated into Portuguese.
Tony is actively involved with the Business Visits and Events Partnership BVEP, the umbrella body for the business events sector in the UK. His work for BVEP includes compilation of the ‘Britain for Events’ report (published October 2010, with a new edition due for publication in 2013); and a research study on ‘Global Best Practice in Subvention and Bid Support’ (in conjunction with Sally Greenhill of The Right Solution) published October 2011.
In 2011 he was honoured to be included in the new MIA List, which recognises 25 individuals who have made ‘an outstanding contribution to our very special industry’.
He is an Honorary Member of the Association of British Professional Conference Organisers, a Visiting Fellow at Leeds Metropolitan University’s UK Centre for Events Management, and an Advisory Board member of the International Centre for Events, Tourism and Hospitality at Leeds Metropolitan University.
